This site is dedicated to pictures and histories from the fantastic lighthouses along the norwegian coastline. Most of them are owned by the state, and many of them are open for the public. Then you can stay the night for a cheap price, and have a magnificent view over the ocean. The placement of the lighthouses is often very rough, and a lot of histories tell about storms and tragedies.

Today sattellites and computers have made the lighthouses unnecessary for the traffic along the coast. But, the buildings are wonderful treasures with a lot of interesting history to tell! That is why we buld this website - to broaden the interest for the lighthouses in Norway.

Søndre Katland
This lighthouse is placed south of the city Farsund, in the southern part of Norway. It is in quite bad shape, but have some amazing stories to tell. For example did a hurricane in 1936 great damage to the lighthouse. Windows and doors was kicked in, and some saltwater came down the chimney. Unfortunately the lighthouse is in bad shape, but som private persons in Farsund try to take care of this fantastic place.

West of Lindesnes we find the lighthouse called Lista. In the 19th century it was three lighthouses here, but after more advanced technology became available - it was down to one. It looked like this in 2007:
